Changing file and directory listing colors in Linux
The default colors for different file types are listed in the file DIR_COLORS under the /etc directory. To customize the colors for different files when using the ls command’s —color option, copy this file to your home directory (preceding it with a period and making the filename lowercase like so: .dir_colors) and then add or change the values. Read the contents of the DIR_COLORS file for the different colors or attributes (such as bold, underscore, blink, or reverse) that can be used to identify files and directories.
